The time has finally arrived; after doing your share of research and talking with our staff about all of the respective capabilities and possibilities of ConstructionSuite and ConstructionOnline, you’ve pulled the trigger on the deal, signed up for one or both platforms, and now you’re ready to take your business to the next level. Easy, right?
Well, some of our clients find themselves feeling unsure about what to do next after adding ConstructionSuite and/or ConstructionOnline to their business, and as a result, run the risk of not incorporating them into their daily operations as they had once envisioned. Does this remind you of the treadmill in your bedroom that is currently being used as a clothes rack? Perhaps.
At UDA, our goal is your success, so we want to offer you some help to keep you from falling down that black hole. Here are a few tips that can give you a leg up in implementing ConstructionSuite and ConstructionOnline.
Focus on what’s important
As you know at this stage of the game, both ConstructionSuite and ConstructionOnline have tons of features to offer. In talking with many of our clients at the early stages of bringing the new systems into the fold, they often feel a sort of internal pressure to tackle every facet of their new project management software. If this is you, let me stop you in your tracks right now and say that this isn’t necessary at all.
That is not to say that the array of cool things now at your fingertips shouldn’t or won’t come into play as your business grows. Hopefully they will! However, focus on what really needs the lion’s share of your attention now. If estimating was the main reason for you to join our family, devote attention to that. If you have been needing to square scheduling away, focus on that. The rest will come with time and as needed.
Start small
In tandem with the first tip, don’t think that you necessarily need to pour every last bit of your company’s information into ConstructionSuite or ConstructionOnline within 24 hours. I promise you that we didn’t sneak in a self-destruct tool that will be activated in you don’t follow this timeline.
Instead, take some time to start a sample project or two in order to see how things work. Create a fake estimate, play around with a made-up schedule, and allow yourself to see how all of the pieces fit together without any stress.
Don’t worry
I can tell you from experience that some clients are afraid to take the initial steps of getting familiar with ConstructionSuite and ConstructionOnline because they think that they may break something or somehow set off a catastrophe of cataclysmic proportions. I can also tell you from experience that there is nothing to worry about! Just about anything you could even possibly do can be easily returned to the state you want it to be in, so don’t let needless anxiety keep you from getting the most out of things.
Focus on the big picture
My final point is one that might be a bit too controversial or too close to home for some, but I’m going to throw it out there anyway. One thing to bear in mind about both ConstructionSuite and ConstructionOnline is that they have been designed with literally hundreds of thousands of our clients in mind. This is an important reality to keep in mind if there is something done a bit differently with our products than what you have been used to. Don’t let this bog you down! Rest assured that learning how to do something a little bit differently in either ConstructionSuite or ConstructionOnline will really take next to no time at all. It only takes an open mind and a pinch of willingness.
Of course if you need any assistance at all in getting up and running, we’re only a phone call or email away. Remember, our goal is your success! We’re always glad to help you get off the ground and successfully running your business with UDA!
